“Trump” assets with huge gains in investor’s attention

The election of Donald Trump has led investors to suddenly shift attention away from emerging market assets to more U.S. centric assets which may profit from fiscal spending or less regulation and price controls.

Interest in emerging market assets has declined significantly since beginning of November, in particular in equities but also in fixed income. Main beneficiaries were U.S. equity funds where document downloads for small cap funds more than doubled. Demand for infrastructure & industrials funds even tripled in the week of the election: ETFs from iShares and Deutsche Bank and active funds from Morgan Stanley, Partners Group, Deutsche Bank and First State benefitted the most.

Huge gains have also been noticed for health care funds with the highest increase in demand experienced by funds from Blackrock, Lyxor and Wellington. This rise has been most pronounced within GFIs. Demand for biotech has remained muted with the exception of the Franklin fund which experienced tremendous interest from investors in Spain.
