On 9 October, FAZ Forum and fundinfo launched the first Fund Experts Forum in Germany. We were pleased to welcome numerous participants from private wealth management and the fund industry to the Hotel Kempinski in Falkenstein near Frankfurt am Main. The event was subtitled “Risk more Assets!”.

The event’s host, Manfred Köhler, economics editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, led the participants through the day. Prof. Dr. Tomáš Sedláček, Chief Economist of the Czechoslovak commercial bank, gave the opening words. In his very exciting speech, he explained the reasons for the most recent crisis in Europe and cultural and its economic-historical aspects. Many more lectures and panel discussions followed with, among others, Norman Boersma (Chief Investment Officer, Global Equity Group at Franklin Templeton Investments), Dr. Martin Lück (European Economist with UBS Investment Bank) and Prof. Dr. Dr. H.C. Martin Weber (Professor of Finance at the University of Mannheim).

After lunch, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the latest issues and developments in group discussions with fund managers of the twelve partner fund companies.

The highlight of the evening was the keynote speech by Stephen Attenborough, Commercial Director at Virgin Galactic, who offered the participants a glimpse of the future with his talk about Virgin’s civil aerospace projects. At the subsequent get-together all the attendees could once again exchange ideas and make new contacts.
