The second APAC openfunds workshop took place in late February in Hong Kong and was a resounding success! In addition to our colleagues from fundinfo Asia, the 30-strong group of financial specialists who attended consisted of representatives from leading banks as well as investment decision-makers.

The non-profit openfunds initiative was launched in 2014 in Zurich with the aim of establishing an industry standard for fund data with the goal of increasing the quality and efficiency of managing fund related information. Founding members of the initiative include UBS, Credit Suisse, Bank Julius Baer and fundinfo.

The APAC openfunds working group based in Hong Kong is developing specific elements for the standard which are relevant for the Asia-Pacific region. Current developments of the openfunds-Initiative and practical experiences with the standard were also discussed. As in 2018, the focus was on using openfunds to reduce the operating burdens in the Asia-Pacific fund markets. Representatives from several banks, among them UBS and Julius Baer, also highlighted the benefits of working with fundinfo for managing fund data and documents.

Please contact Doris Tse or Jeff Floro if you would like to learn how fundinfo implements the openfunds standard in Asia. For additional information about openfunds, please contact businessoffice@openfunds.org.
