“Trump assets” still receive elevated investor attention

Asset classes which investors expect to benefit from Trump’s policy experienced a spike in attention right after the election, and most of them are still in high demand.

Most striking is the demand for U.S. small and mid cap equities which more than doubled, and has remained stable at that level since the election. It’s now even ahead of the attention for European small and mid cap funds. Legg Mason Royce US Small Cap Opportunity and SPDR Russell 2000 U.S. Small Cap UCITS ETF benefitted the most: Legg Mason from demand through Asian, European und Global Financial Institutions and SPDR through public channels and Global Financial Institutions. Swiss investors, however, favored T. Rowe Price Funds, US Smaller Companies Equity and iShares S&P Small Cap 600 UCITS ETF USD.

Demand for infrastructure & industrials has calmed down significantly since the election but remains far above the level seen last summer. Investor’s focus is on Morgan Stanley Global Infrastructure and ETFs from iShares and Deutsche.

Demand for Russian equities, e.g. iShares ETF and Pictet Russia, peaked in January but is still high, while healthcare experienced a setback to levels seen before November.
